WELCOME, to the fundraising and walk page of "Team Eddie Miller Memorial Foundation" AKA TEAM TURTLE for the Out of the Darkness Walk on October 17th through AFSP!
WHY WE WALK: We walk in memory of and to honor our friend, son, brother, cousin, and nephew, Eddie Miller. Eddie was an amazing young man who left a positive and indelible mark with anyone who knew him. He grew up locally in Bay Village with his family Ed, Jenny, and younger brother Pat. Eddie excelled in school and was a student at St. Raphael's, Saint Ignatius High School, and Miami University. Eddie was a great student and worked hard in school. Outside the classroom Eddie was an avid Cleveland Sports Fan and a dynamic football and baseball player among other sports. All of us who played sports with Eddie would always pick him first :) You never wanted to play against him or be on the other team. His family and the friends that knew him well knew Eddie to be very creative and quite the artist. His drawings were very inspiring and pretty amazing. Some of them also portrayed his sense of humor which was always fun to see. Everyone who knew Eddie loved him. Besides being a good student, a great athlete, and a creative and inspired person, he was the guy that always stood up for people and would always speak out if he didn't think something was right. As strong as Eddie Miller was, he struggled with an internal battle against anxiety and deep, dark thoughts that caused depression. He was the type of friend that never shared it much because he didn't want to burden those closest to him. Sadly, Eddie lost his battle and we lost a great young man to this terrible disease on July 24th, 2014. The fight doesn't stop here. We need to continue to remember Eddie and do what he would want us to do...make a positive difference in another person's life who struggles with this disease.
All of you who joined us for the golf outing, THANK YOU, for what you have done so far to make an impact. The golf outing was the first step. Now on to the second step...
TAKE ACTION: PLEASE join us on October 17th for the Out of the Darkness Walk put on by American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. If you just want to sign up and walk, please do! We want to register a whole pile of walkers. You don't have to donate if you don't feel like it since you have done so much already. We thank you for just being willing to walk with us and create more awareness around this terrible disease.
If you do feel like donating, even if the amount is small, anything makes a difference and it is considered a tax deductible donation. Please use the "Donate Now" Button above.
Thank you for all you have done to make a difference through Eddie Miller Memorial Foundation and now through the Out of the Darkness Walk with AFSP.
Sincerely,
The Board of Eddie Miller Memorial Foundation
